Introduction Tamarind Kernel Powder is obtained from the seeds of the plant Tamarindus Indica. The tree is usually about 5 meters tall but can also get as high as 25 meters. It stays evergreen without a dry season and is covered with pinnate leaves, pale reddish-yellow flowers and pods. The pods are 3-6 inches long with 8-10 seeds in each.
Properties Tamarind Kernel Powder is a polysaccharide consisting mainly of D-mannose and D-galactose units. The powder is odourless and appears creamish white.It has a high capacity of water absorption and can retain a stable viscosity over a broad pH range.
Applications
Textile Industry It is used as a sizing agent and as a thickener.
Grades Tamarind Kernel Powder is offered as both regular and deoiled with particle size of 200 & 300 mesh and viscosity of 10,000 cps (5% concentration).
